Steve Bridge, a prolific song
writer and singer of the historic San Francisco Sound Era, was
known for his ability to enliven the hearts of his listeners.
Whether sharing the concert stage with the Grateful Dead and
the Jefferson Airplane, performing impromptu on a college campus,
or singing to a radio audience, he desired through his music
to have a spiritualizing effect on the world.
Eventually disappointed by his
inability to do so, Steve left the music scene to take shelter
of a guru. He was accepted as a disciple by A.C. Bhaktivedanta
Swami Prabhupada, one of the greatest spiritual masters in history.
Prabhupada renamed him "Sankarshan Das" and taught
him the art of simultaneously spiritualizing the self and the
world.
Sankarshan Das then immersed
himself in studying and teaching bhakti yoga. He discovered songs
of great spiritual masters that have the potency to awaken spiritual
realization in the hearts of all beings. But thinking the world
not ready he kept them mostly to himself.
On a 1998 visit to the Fiji Islands
Sankarshan tried taking these songs to the public. He delightfully
witnessed the profound impact they had on his listeners and resolved
that he must now make them available to the entire world. From
Hare Krishna With Love is the manifestation of that resolution.
Listen to it seriously and often. Share it with those you love.
It has the power to transform your life.
Sankarshan hopes that those who
lamented his disappearance from the music scene thirty years
ago will now welcome this release feeling that it was well worth
the wait.
